Beginning at the age of nine, Em took private art lessons on scholarship with an older gifted artist who resided in the town where she grew up. She learned pencil drawing, colored pencils, charcoal, chalk/oil pastels, watercolors, acrylics, and pen & ink. During high school she continued pursuing visual art and was voted class artist. During her college years Em took many elective art classes (pottery: wheel, pottery: hand building, installations, etc) and she continues to view the world through the lens of creative processes such as art, dance, and writing.
